![]() They had grown short of ideas and needed a new daring challenge to put their minds to. MattuFin’s own journey began in early 2012 as he and a couple of friends joined forces to start a brand new project. As famous poet Lao Tzu once said: “The journey of a perfect Minecraft build begins with one block”. The amount must be in the hundreds, if not thousands,” he says. “I've never counted the buildings, actually. Measuring from one edge to the other, Mattupolis is around 2500 x 2000 blocks wide, complete with all the necessary districts, buildings and point of interests you might find in a real city. You can also take a tour of the city yourself when May 26 comes around as the team will be hosting an open server event. The video below also provides a look at the detail that went into the landscape and every building. You can get an idea of the scale of Greenfield by looking at the dynamic map through here. The city was built using a 1:1 Scale with one block equalling 1 cubic meter and takes up 20 million blocks. Many of the buildings also feature an interior, and the team inspects each one to make sure everything is still working when a new build is released. Greenfield features a downtown area with skyscrapers, there are suburbs, industrial areas, public transportation such as railways and subways, and plenty of highways. ![]() The project is maintained by ten people with many, many others - around 400 - who have jumped in to help create the metropolis (thanks, RPS). The project started in 2011, and is still being worked on, and the latest update is set to be released on May 31. For nine years, some rather industrious folks have devoted themselves to creating an impressive city called Greenfield in Minecraft.
